Mike Suh | Pastor - Though Mike grew up as a pastor’s kid, his own journey to faith and ministry was a long and winding one. However, Mike eventually felt a growing desire to enter pastoral ministry. That desire, along with the affirmation of various people, eventually led him to enroll in Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia in 2007. During the next four years, God used a variety of means to confirm and enlarge his sense of calling. In 2012, he was called by Emmanuel Reformed Church in Paramount, CA to serve as the pastor of teaching and adult discipleship while also preparing to plant a church. As he was getting to know Los Angeles, he was pointed to and eventually fell in love with Silver Lake and its surrounding neighborhoods. In the spring of 2015, he was given the green light by his denomination to plant Missio Dei. He and his wife Sarah, who also has a degree from Westminster, are excited to get to know their neighbors, to share life with them, and to seek the good of their beautiful neighborhood and city together. When he's not working, he loves to play sports, check out live music, explore the city, and nerd out on all kinds of books. Having moved to L.A., he's also learning to embrace hiking. However, his favorite activity is to spend a quiet evening at home with Sarah.
Stephanie Williams | Music Director - Born and raised just south of Dallas, Stephanie moved to Southern California to pursue her vocal performance degree at Chapman University. A pivotal moment in her relationship with Christ occurred when she shared some struggles with her piano teacher, the late great Lazlo Lak, who in response pointed her toward a solid church committed to the Scriptures. After college, she moved to Silver Lake, began building a private vocal studio, and was privileged to be involved in the beginning five years of Reality LA. While there, she completed the first generation of The Union internship program and served primarily as a Sunday School teacher. For the past three years she’s been singing with the Church of Christian Fellowship Gospel Choir and continuing to teach Sunday School. Previously hesitant to step forward as a worship leader, Stephanie feels confident in the Lord’s work in her life and the love He’s placed in her heart for the people of Silver Lake. She’s very excited to be a part of the new community that God is building at Missio Dei and to help lead it in worship! Aside from working, she lives with her dogs, Solomon and Bill, and is enthusiastic about the local music scene, books, roller-skating, and nail polish.
Sarey Martin | Children's Ministry Director - Sarey was born and raised in the L.A. county beach cities, and she loved Jesus from a very early age. Her first job was at her Presbyterian home church in Torrance, CA as a teen. She went on to get her B.A. in the Humanities from Concordia University before moving to L.A. and working in the entertainment industry for 12 years. In the meantime, she got involved in ministry at a local church in Hollywood in several capacities, including Kids Ministry, Hospitality, and Prayer Team. In 2015, Sarey decided to continue her education at Fuller Theological Seminary where she is getting her Masters degree in Theology. She's so thankful to be involved at Missio Dei LA and can't wait to see what the Lord will do in the kids ministry and beyond! When she's not doing homework or working, Sarey enjoys drinking coffee, writing about life, connecting with fellow humans, playing and listening to music, watching Star Trek, eating sushi, and the occasional road trip. She currently resides in Glendale with her chihuahua named Eight.
